Swallows U14's 4 - 0 Chapeltown Juniors U14's
Sunday, September 28, 2008 at 09:48AM Two teams currently sitting at the top of their respective leagues met in the Cup at Burgoyne Park in glorious sunshine.
Swallows
took first blood with a brilliant solo run from Boot who beat the
offside trap and kept his nerve to score with a defender at his heels.
After
a period of intense pressure from Chapeltown, Swallows created a
second, Denton producing the ball through the disciplined Chapeltown
offside trap for Sellars to race through and chip the keeper from the
edge of the box, 2-0.
Before long it was 3-0 with a goal out of nothing, a brilliant 35 yard chip from Denton gave the keeper no chance.
Marsh
was performing brilliantly in goal producing save after save of the
highest quality giving his defenders confidence to push forward
Half time: Swallows 3-0 Chapeltown Juniors
An
end to end second half where both teams had good chances to extend
their lead, with chances squandered by players of both sides , was
looking like ending in stalemate until Sellars cut in from the left to
allow Boot to bundle in his second on the goal line to give Swallows a
thoroughly deserved 4-0 lead.
Chapeltown continued to squander
a host of chances, shooting over and wide, Marsh again seemingly
unbeatable and the defence solid with Morris and Sims marshalling the
centre like Ferdinand and Terry.
Appropriately enough the
second half was brought to a close with the ball in the Chapeltown goal
area following a Denton effort that was well saved by the Chapeltown
keeper.
Swallows progress to the next round at the expense of
a highly rated Chapeltown side who currently sit at the top of Division
D and the workrate and effort given by the Swallows today made a
mockery of the gulf in status. Swallows performed in all area's of the
park.
Manager Kiddy commented after the game 'We asked for the team to
give their all right from the start, as I have been disappointed with
our starts in the last two games. The lads did that today, Chapeltown
came at us from the off and we soaked up that pressure before we began
to impose our own style on the game. It was hard to pick a man of the
match today because we had so many but I would have to single out Grant
Sims for a great performance in the centre of defence.
Full Time Swallows 4-0 Chapeltown Juniors.
