Under 14's: Pro Socker Puma's 3-9 Swallows
Sunday, October 5, 2008 at 02:15PM
Graves Park was the venue for todays game, a pitch more suited to
mountaineering than football. It wasn't quite as bad as the one in our picture - but not far off!!
The weather had been miserable all
morning but the rain held off as kick off approached. Swallows manager
Kiddy was forced to stand in as referee for the first half leaving Coach Morris in charge
on the sidelines.
First blood went to Swallows, a teriffic
goal kick by Grant Sims fell to Sellars on the left who's through ball to Boot allowed him to score. 0-1
Swallows second came from a
cross from the right by Hewitt that evaded Chatterley and Taylor before
finding Sellars at the back post for a simple tap in. 0-2.
Pumas
fought back at this point. They picked up a freak goal from the right
with a cross that looped over Ryan Marsh and over the line, then were level 2 mins
later with a brilliant strike into the top left corner. 2-2
Swallows quickly regained the advantage with a Chatterley penalty after he'd been brought down in the box. 2-3.
Half Time 2-3
Swallows
kicked off the 2nd half with some changes. It wasn't long before
Sellars had made it 4 to Swallows, and a minute later Boot made
it 5-2.
A ball through the middle of the park by Denton saw Curtis Boot pick up a well deserved hat trick and Swallows 6th.
Sellars was next to achieve his hat-trick as he toe-poked a 7th Swallows goal from outside the box that flew well out reach of the outstanding Puma's keeper into the top left hand corner.
Sellars was still in the thick of the action, providing a cross from the left that gave Short the opportunity to smash the ball into the back of the net for the 8th goal.
A corner floated over from the right saw Denton bundle home for 9-2.
Pumas picked up a consolation goal witha delightful chip over sub keeper Reece Taylor to make it 9-3.
FULL TIME SCORE - Pro Socker Puma's 3 - 9 Swallows
An excellent team performance once again from Swallows against probably the best team faced so far.
Man of the Match - Jamie Butler. Played some great football, lots of simple short passes and didn't give the ball away. Well done Jamie.
